Welcome to the 6th instructional course, which will focus on The Principles of Osteotomies for Osteoarthritis Knee and Sports Medicine Injuries.
The Osteotomy course will focus on the “Basic Principles” of how to improve your osteotomy outcome. With a new understanding of bio-mechanics, good patient selection, and proper surgical technique of modern osteotomy concepts, offering excellent results for young and active patients with osteoarthritis. Knee surgeons should be aware of these advanced techniques to be able to offer their patients osteotomy as an attractive alternative to Unicondylar knee or TKA.
Hands-on workshop will allow delegates to explore the most recent advancements in osteotomy techniques on the tibia and femur including tips and tricks with angle stable implants.
The second half-day starts with a didactical live video recording on medial open wedge tibia osteotomy repeating the Basic Principles and showing how they can be transferred to the OR. During the second part, we will present and discuss the basic principles for complex osteotomies. This will include double-level, combined cartilage and ligament as well as derotation osteotomies.
The last part will focus on sports medicine and provide an update on the latest techniques in treatment and rehabilitation. Key topics include cartilage damage, meniscus injuries, ACL and PCL injuries, and posterolateral corner issues. The course also features discussions and a case challenge focused on diagnosing and managing knee injuries in athletes.
